Submission
Search Engine Submission - There are currently
50 search engines/directories that we monitor/submit our customers’
sites to. Listing with the top 50 or so search engines also ensures
that sites are listed on many more minor search engines that rely upon
data provided by larger ones. There are also specialist search engines
that are applicable to some types of businesses.
The first thing we do for a customer is
to identify what phrases their site should be listed under to ensure
that the site is optimised for phrases that people actually search for
and uses data from search engines of actual searches carried out; we
acquire this information by examining the customers website.
This involves using software to see how
a search engine spider would view a site and viewing the site manually
and checking various aspects of the site. There are currently 45 different
checks that we carry out (in addition to the manual checking of a site).
We then send the customer a report showing what changes we recommend
making to optimise the site for search engine ranking. Our clients normally
get their web designer to carry out the necessary changes although we
can action them if the client requires for a nominal fee.
We submit our customers' sites to the appropriate
search engines, providing the necessary information. After approximately
five weeks, we then search for one of the phrases we are focusing on.
With the search engines where they do not achieve a high ranking, we
resubmit.
We then repeat the exercise approximately every month checking that
the site is still optimised appropriately and amending as appropriate.
After each submission a report is sent to the customer showing their
ranking with the major search engines.
